The support poles are now in place and the concrete poured.
|
302 - 7/08/04 - 22:18
Enlarged view. The inner portion of the Y arm is at the height
at which it will be attached.
This view directly north, from where I work.
|
303 - 7/08/04 - 22:20
Enlarged view. This view a little further west,
while I was heading for the work site.
The 2-D photos make it a little tough to see.
|
304 - 7/08/04 - 22:25
Enlarged view.
This view directly from the west.
While the position of the arm hasn't changed,
the view gives a good view of the crew.
|
305 - 7/08/04 - 22:29
Enlarged view.
Another view of the crew.
|
306 - 7/08/04 - 22:31
Enlarged view.
A little closer, still directly from the west.
|
307 - 7/09/04 - 00:09
Enlarged view.
This view almost directly underneath the tower.
It is interesting because of the western setting sun sneaking
through the clouds.
I was enjoying the magnificent smoked ribs cooked by the Pegasus
Tower owner, Cliff.
|
308 - 7/09/04 - 00:14
Enlarged view.
Look to see one of the crew on the tower.
|
309 - 7/09/04 - 00:22
Enlarged view.
Now one of the crew is on the arm.
The problem with getting the arm into place so that it can get bolted
is the highway that is north of the tower.
If you look at the land plot drawing, you'll see a 4-lane highway.
They couldn't get "trolly" lines into positions to help the
positioning of the arm section.
They needed to go out quite a distance.
That won't be a problem with the arm on the south side.
|
310 - 7/09/04 - 00:39
Enlarged view.
The arm is bolted into place enough so that they can quit
for the night.
|
311 - 7/09/04 - 01:06
Coming on down for the night and hamming it up for the camera.
|
312 - 7/09/04 - 01:06
On the ground, two hours after normal quitting time.
|
313 - 7/09/04 - 01:23
Interesting lighting from the setting sun.
|
314 - 7/09/04 - 01:27
Ditto.
|
315 - 7/09/04 - 22:07
Enlarged view.
The outside section of the Y arm is being moved into place.
It is hard to see, as it is behind the existing arm section.
This image, and the next two, were done with a X2 telephoto
adapter lens.
But this lens has lousy focus outside the immediate center.
I won't be using it again.

Enlarged view taken from the vantage point of the Woodman's West
gas station.
A couple of guys are working on the area where the antenna will mount.
|
319 - 7/10/04 - 19:10
The inner section of the Z arm is being hoisted into place.

327 - 7/10/04 - 20:41
Enlarged view.
The attachment of the section was easier, as they learned from
yesterday and had more room for the "trolly" line.
|
328 - 7/10/04 - 21:22
Empty buckets being lowered.
|
329 - 7/10/04 - 21:43
The outside Z arm section is now being hoisted.

Hudges is stuck on the ground, in this case hauling a gas container.
Stupid story as to why he isn't up on the tower,
which we won't go into here.
