After the Y arm section was placed here,
it was decided that the side nearest the tower needed to come off
in order to build the linkage between the tower and the Y arm.
Nobody said that build the T-bar was going to be easy.

251 - 7/05/04 - 19:28
Working on the WBUW antenna base.
|
252 - 7/05/04 - 19:37
Yep, still working on the holes.
They were working on the holes until the time I left.
|
253 - 7/05/04 - 19:44
Picking up the piece to move it back to the work area.
|
254 - 7/05/04 - 19:55
The top piece of the Y arm will be unbolted and removed.

|
260 - 7/05/04 - 20:04
|
261 - 7/05/04 - 20:12
It is now being stored for later use.
|
262 - 7/05/04 - 20:23
The piece is then moved and flipped over.
|
263 - 7/05/04 - 20:24
|
264 - 7/05/04 - 20:24
|
265 - 7/05/04 - 20:28
The pieces that connect the Y arm outside piece to the tower
are now brought over.
|
266 - 7/05/04 - 20:32
|
267 - 7/05/04 - 20:34
|
268 - 7/05/04 - 20:36
But there was a problem.
The pieces were not marked by the manufacturer,
so they had to determine the correct pieces to be used,
which they did.
|
269 - 7/05/04 - 20:44
|
270 - 7/05/04 - 20:48
The Y arm tower connection piece is now being assembled.

|
279 - 7/05/04 - 21:42
|
280 - 7/05/04 - 21:48
The assembled piece was lifted and weighed.
The reason is that the crane, at the top of the tower,
can only support so much weight.
FYI, the assembled piece weighed 4900 pounds.
|
281 - 7/05/04 - 21:55
|
282 - 7/05/04 - 21:56
|
283 - 7/05/04 - 21:57
|
284 - 7/05/04 - 22:06
The assembled piece is now being moved to the location for lifting.
Unfortunately I ran out of storage for more photos at this point.
They are going to have lots of fun lifting it into place
and attaching it to the tower.
|
285 - 7/06/04 - 22:14
You've heard the old saying about the writing on the wall.
They take it to heart here.
While it isn't exactly a wall, they have written on it.
|
286 - 7/06/04 - 22:15
Still working on the holes to get the posts up and set in concrete.
|
287 - 7/06/04 - 22:16
The Y arm section that is ready to go up.
Weather kept it grounded today.
|
288 - 7/06/04 - 22:18
The portion of the poles that have been set into place.
|
289 - 7/06/04 - 22:19
The waveguide and copper coax tubes.
|
290 - 7/06/04 - 22:20
Continuing work on the pole holes.

|
293 - 7/06/04 - 22:35
|
294 - 7/07/04 - 22:12
Working on the side mount assembly for the digital antenna.
|
295 - 7/07/04 - 22:21
The digital antenna is not going on top of the tower,
it will be side mounted.
One would think that the big metal tower next to the antenna
would cause a problem.
Obviously I do not know anough about RF to understand that issue.
|
296 - 7/07/04 - 22:25
Getting the last of the pole installed and plumb.
The concrete will be poured tomorrow morning at 9am.
|
297 - 7/07/04 - 22:26
|
298 - 7/07/04 - 22:36
More work on the side mount assembly.
|
299 - 7/07/04 - 22:38
|
300 - 7/07/04 - 22:41
The plan is to put up the assembly and antenna tomorrow.
